Recovery of mehr and maintenance claims for Muslim women and children.
Mehr is the wife's right and can be recovered as a debt. A divorced Muslim woman is entitled to reasonable and fair provision under the 1986 Act, and the Supreme Court has held that she may also claim maintenance under the general criminal-procedure provision (now Section 144 BNSS).
