Restitution of Conjugal Rights
Petitions where a spouse has withdrawn from the marital home without reasonable cause.
Under Section 9 of the Hindu Marriage Act, a spouse may ask the court to direct the other to resume cohabitation where they have withdrawn without reasonable excuse. Such petitions are often a step towards reconciliation, and non-compliance with a decree for one year can itself become a ground for divorce.
